The Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change

Optimal Office uses the Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change as its starting point, working with individuals regardless of their readiness to change. The Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change categorizes the psychological state of an individual's readiness to make a change, and addresses individual learners across the full spectrum of their willingness to do so. Optimal Office has been designed to engage adults regardless of where they are on the intent-to-learn curve.

Pre-contemplation: In this stage individuals may be unaware or underaware of existing problems. Optimal Office increases user awareness of their responses in real-time through the stress indicators, educational micro-training sessions, and also through the use of bio-data review.

Contemplation: Individuals in this stage have identified behaviors that are ineffective for their health and well being; they are seriously thinking about change, but have not made a commitment to action. The Optimal Office stress indicators and alerts encourage these learners to begin by clearly identifying their responses, and offering micro-training sessions for more effective strategies for coping with perceived stressful events.

Preparation: This stage of behavioral change includes individuals who are planning to take action in the next month and have unsuccessfully taken action in the past year. Time efficient micro-training makes Optimal Office very easy to use, and the user data-reports offer the critical reinforcement necessary for success.

Action: In this stage individuals are actively involved in changing their behavior. Optimal Office provides the necessary reinforcement, awareness and training to sustain their efforts.

Maintenance: In the maintenance stage individuals work to prevent relapse while reaping the benefits of their previous efforts. Learners in this phase benefit from the continued reinforcement, awareness and training that Optimal Office provides.
