A user's engagement in Optimal Office's stress detection system is effortless using a computer mouse called a SensDevice (available in both right and left handed formats). The patented SensDevice scientifically records data as measurement of Skin Conductance Level and temperature change, which are objective physical reactions.
Three continuous real time stress readings are provided on the monitor: a thermometer style bar graph; a numerical reading; and an arrow at the bottom of the monitor screen is an indicator of the stress trend direction. The Optimal Office indicators point out that an individual has times of high stress in their daily work routine, increasing the users awareness of stress and its impact.
When a user's stress level rises above their established baseline threshold, a high activity alert occurs, and an intervention indicator appears on the screen with suggestions on how to lessen the stress levels.
Several times throughout the day, stress relieving trainings and exercises are suggested. These micro-trainings are the key to "learning in small steps."
The key to long-term stress intervention in the Optimal Office system is the Manage Stress Micro-Training module. 4-5 micro-trainings are delivered to a user's monitor, for a total of 5-8 minutes in any one day. The sessions are breathing, stretching, learning and calming exercises and average about 1 minute in length.
Optimal Office Micro-Trainings call for a less significant time commitment each day than usually is spent walking to and from the parking lot.
The 180+ training or learning sessions make up a total of 650 sessions, with repetition of exercises to reinforce learning and aid retention. The trainings consist of three graduated levels which typically take a user 6-8 months to complete, working at an individually determined pace. A fourth training component is a practice schedule to maintain and reinforce the learned skills.
Guided feedback exercises, which show the user their measured stress level in real-time, teach self regulation skills. In the form of games they teach "paradox intention" — one can win only by relaxing. Feedback has been proven a most effective way to teach relaxation skills.
When a person is trying to change their behavior, feedback and reinforcement are essential elements of success. The Optimal Office system gives each individual immediate feedback on the screen, and provides daily graphical reviews of their bio-medical and training data. At the end of each micro-training cycle, Optimal Office also gives the user a summary progress report.
At Logisens our web portal is also engaged in the process. Our secure servers maintain individual privacy while providing statistical data for group reporting. Data comes from the individual and reports go back to them. The company has access to group reports and information that feed ROI calculations and help to manage human capital.
Group stress level management data is available, as well as group reports from questionnaires and surveys.
